Helen Chen holds a doctoral degree in structural engineering. She has over twenty-five years of experience as a Professional Engineer. Before she joined the American Iron and Steel Institute as a senior cold-formed steel design engineer, Dr. Chen worked for a structural consulting firm and a metal building manufacturer in Ohio. Her design experience includes reinforced concrete structures and steel structures. Dr. Chen currently serves as the Secretary of the AISI Committee on Specifications. She is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Besides being a LEED AP BD+C, she is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio and Kentucky.
