Mr. Guyer is a graduate of Stanford University, attended the McGeorge School of Law for three years, is a registered Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Fire Protection Engineer and Architect in California, and has in the past held registrations in other states. Beginning his professional career in 1962, he was for 17 years employed in engineering positions by the State of California, including 10 years engaged in design of the California State Water Project....one of the largest infrastructure projects ever constructed. In 1979 he resigned from his position with the State of California in order to establish his own architectural engineering firm, Guyer Santin, Inc., which he managed for 18 years, during which time the firms predominant activity was the design of military facilities throughout the Pacific basin. In 1997 his firm merged with another and Mr. Guyer accepted a senior-level staff position with the California Legislature where he served as principal advisor to the Members on infrastructure and capital outlay issues. He has held numerous positions with the California Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers, including President of the Sacramento Section. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
