Dr. Sun is a licensed professional engineer and structural engineering course author with more than 31 years of international experience in structural design, seismic analysis, equipment foundations, steel structures, reinforced concrete, buildings, and power utility infrastructure. His professional practice includes transmission and distribution projects, substations, GIS/control buildings, switchyard structures, gantry towers, transmission pole foundations, helical pile and steel pipe pile foundations, retaining walls, and post-disaster utility buildings. He routinely provides code-based structural design, design review, vendor drawing review, RFI response, construction support, field review, and practical engineering judgment for utility and infrastructure projects.
In addition to his professional design experience, Dr. Sun has developed and delivered continuing education material for practicing engineers.
