ePDH Course Provider Biography
Mr. Daniel A. Vellone, P.G. is a Registered Professional and Licensed Geologist with experience in geological, geotechnical and environmental consulting. His professional preparation was completed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY where he completed his B.S. and M.S. degrees, respectively. Additionally, he has completed post-graduate instruction from the University of Idaho.
His professional experience comprises site characterization and modeling/analysis for soil and rock slope stability assessment and stabilization, engineering geological and geotechnical field data-collection studies, and report preparation for small- and large-scale projects. In this capacity, he has supervised multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, consultants and subcontractors. Mr. Vellone has served as Adjunct Faculty in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Manhattan College and is an approved Lecturer through the Practicing Institute of Engineering, Inc. Additionally, he has led seminars for the Concrete Industry Board and the New York Eastern Chapter of the American Concrete Institute and given invited presentations for the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has been principal and co-author of several publications on geologic and geotechnical topics and has presented technical papers at various regional and national conferences as well as serving as a peer-reviewer for conferences papers and scholarly publications.
Mr. Vellone is an active Member of the Association of Engineering Geologists and of the Geo-Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers as well as Member of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honorary Society and Life Member of Sigma Gamma Epsilon, the National Geologic Honorary Society.
