Engineering Mechanics Problem Solving Practice

This course provides hands-on experience to solve various engineering mechanics problems using a free, yet powerful software package called MDSolids, which contains 12 modules for the analysis and design of beams and flexural members, torsional assemblies, axial assemblies, trusses, columns, pressure vessels, and members subjected to combined loadings. It can calculate section properties of standard and nonstandard shapes, and perform stress transformations using Mohr's circle. You will receive detailed instructions on how to install and operate MDSolids on your computer.

This course can help you develop problem-solving skills through an intuitive software interface that guides you to the important factors affecting various problem types, helps you visualize the nature of internal stresses and deformations, and provides an easy-to-use means of investigating a greater number of problems and variations. Once you master MDSolids, you will be able to solve over 90% of stress/strain related engineering problems encountered in your routine design work.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of course materials.
