Kevin A. Mussmacher, P.E. Newly graduated, and many seasoned, Engineers are ill prepared to deal with the vagaries of the Real World of effective project design. They spend a lot of time losing their idealistic view of the glamour of engineering design as they work on some mundane task, rather than designing the next iPhone or personal teleportation device. Once that reality hits them, they are ready (if not surprised) to learn that projects consist of more than making cool designs. This course will introduce, and give some detail to, the other real-world considerations involved. It will also attempt to show how to present, implement and enforce these concepts, while showing the Engineer why they are beneficial to accomplishing the project and to increasing his or her abilities and value. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials. * This course is acceptable to all the state PE boards except the New York State PE & PLS Board. NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public. NY Board does not accept courses related to office management, risk management, leadership, marketing, accounting, financial planning, real estate, and basic CAD. Specific course topics that are on the borderline and are not acceptable by the NY Board have been noted under the course description on our website. |
