Robert P. Jackson, PE Encoders represent one extremely important type of transducer used to provide and determine motion control for a great number of electromechanical systems. The use of motion sensors has become commonplace in the design of robotic systems, conveyor systems used for pick and place operations and even domestic assemblies such as desktop printers. Motion control often involve monitoring rotary and linear motion and dictating exact positioning of moving devices. The development of robotic surgery would be impossible without motion sensors, specifically encoders. This course will detail applications, design, encoder types and other basic characteristics of this important technology. We will give details beyond the basics so an individual can continue study. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials. NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public. NY Board does not accept courses related to office management, risk management, leadership, marketing, accounting, financial planning, real estate, and basic CAD. Specific course topics that are on the borderline and are not acceptable by the NY Board have been noted under the course description on our website. |
