Lee Layton, PE This 3-hour course describes the 1986 melt down of reactor #4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukraine. This is the most serious nuclear accident to date, which caused loss of life and displacement of thousands of people. The course explains the unique characteristics of the RBMK reactors at Chernobyl, the test plan that went awry, the principal causes of the accident, and the resulting impacts of the disaster. This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
