John P. Cole, PE Control systems integration is often the most challenging part of a technical project. Integration requires interfacing, translating, or converting different languages or protocols. The combination of elements of new and older systems can result in either brilliant breakthroughs, or else embarrassing failures. Many companies develop and sell bridge and router devices, and most of these do work as designed. However, you must master several basic principles of integration to find success in this field. This course leads you to analyze the real requirements of different protocols in your application. Real-world examples illustrate different alternatives and their benefits and drawbacks. Mechanical, electrical, systems, and other engineers working with control systems will all benefit from the lessons learned during the brain surgery involved in protocol integration. The course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials. Note: This course requires users to pay first before viewing the course content. NY PE & PLS: You must choose courses that are technical in nature or related to matters of laws and ethics contributing to the health and welfare of the public.
