Epoxy Polymers & Composites – Engineering & General Applications

Jurandir Primo, P.E.

This course brings practical concepts for Epoxy Polymers & Composites – Engineering & General Application, in a very important didactic form, suited for everyone, beginners, students, technicians, engineers, contractors and all interested professionals, working or not, with art or Civil and Mechanical Engineering. The concepts of this course are divided in 8 basic sections as follows: Introduction; Epoxy Resins; Epoxy Polymers and Composites in Mechanical Engineering; Types of Resins & Applications; Epoxy Polymers and Composites in Pipelines; Epoxy Polymers and Composites in Mining Eqipment; Epoxy Polymers and Composites in Civil Engineering; Epoxy Polymers and Composites in Art & General Applications.

Polymers range from synthetic plastics, such as polystyrene to natural biopolymers, chemically used according to their structure and function. Polymers, both natural and synthetic, are created via polymerization of small molecules, known as monomers. Polymers are studied in the fields of polymer science (and includes polymer chemistry and polymer physics), biophysics and materials science and engineering. The polyisoprene of latex rubber is an example of a natural polymer (and the most important is the “natural rubber” derived from the sap of trees). The polystyrene of styrofoam is an example of a synthetic polymer.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
