In 1919, the U.S. Army tried a voyage across America. Roads were so bad that they nearly gave up. A century later, travelers can drive across the U.S. in less than 48 hours. In this course, we'll explore the history of America's Interstate System construction, how the motor fuel excise tax was paid to build our roads, and what highways will look like in the future. In addition, we will discuss how electric vehicles, which skip the gas tax entirely, will change how we pay for roads in the future.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
