This course will provide a background of bicycling including common vocabulary, concepts and knowledge. The history of bicycling and improvement to the intermodal system will be discussed.
Bicycle planning issues will be covered. Utilitarian and recreational bicycling will be compared. The basic principles to be considered for a transportation project will also be discussed. The process of utilizing comprehensive planning, selection/development options will be provided as well as post design assessment.
Bicycle safety issues will be discussed. The most common bicycle-motor vehicle crashes will be identified. The types of bicyclists and their associated risks will also be covered.
This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end, which is designed to enhance the understanding of the course materials.
